Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been reported missing from her home in Arizona, raising concern among family, colleagues, and authorities. She was last seen Saturday, January 31, in the Catalina Foothills area of Catalina Foothills.
Following the news, Guthrie did not appear on NBC’s Today on Monday. The program acknowledged the situation at the opening, calling it a deeply personal moment for the Today family.
Authorities confirmed that Nancy Guthrie was last active on social media on January 27. Since her disappearance, an extensive search has been underway throughout the Catalina Foothills region.
At a press conference on Sunday, Chris Nanos said search-and-rescue teams are working both on the ground and in the air. He also confirmed that a homicide unit has been brought in after concerning findings at the home, emphasizing that this step reflects caution rather than any confirmed conclusion. “Guthrie is 84 years old and not in good physical health,” Nanos said, noting that her condition adds urgency to the investigation.
Later, Guthrie released a statement through Today thanking the public for their support. She said the family remains focused on her mother’s safe return and expressed gratitude to law enforcement. She also encouraged anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, as messages of hope and concern continue to pour in.
