A delivery driver briefly detained in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has been released without charges, as the search for the missing mother continues.
Carlos Palazuelos, 36, was taken into custody on February 10 while making deliveries. His detention came as authorities pursued leads in the case, which has now entered its 11th day. Nancy Guthrie is the mother of TODAY co-host Savannah Guthrie, and investigators have shared few details about her unexplained disappearance.
Despite early suspicions, Palazuelos was released after several hours in police custody. Officials have not filed any charges or announced formal accusations against him.
Palazuelos strongly denied any connection to the case. He told investigators he had “never heard of Nancy Guthrie or her daughter Savannah” and said he does not follow the news. Speaking outside his Arizona home, he claimed he was held “against his will” and alleged that officers did not read him his rights until two hours after being detained.
He said he repeatedly asked why he was being held and insisted he had done nothing wrong. “I have no connection to the missing woman,” he maintained.
Before his release, DoorDash confirmed that one of its drivers had been detained in relation to the investigation and said it was urgently reviewing the situation.
Authorities have not provided further updates about the circumstances of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues working to determine what happened.
