After my cat brought home puppies from who knows where, a police officer arrived at our door. As I led him inside, Mrs. Miller followed, curious as ever. The officer remained standing and asked, “Marsa, right?” pointing to my tabby curled protectively around a pile of sleeping puppies. Marsa purred calmly, unaware of the tension.

He explained, “We’ve had several reports of missing puppies in the neighborhood.” My stomach tightened. Families were worried, and suddenly Marsa’s strange behavior made sense. The officer reassured us: “We’re not here to cause trouble… But we need to know where the puppies came from.” He suggested we follow Marsa. That afternoon, we trailed her through a gap in a fence to a patch of tall grass beneath an old tree.

There, we found a small den filled with more puppies, huddled safely together. Animal services soon arrived. The puppies were returned to their families, and the mystery was solved.

It turned out Marsa had been rescuing abandoned pups one by one, guided by instinct. That evening, as I stroked her fur, I understood something simple but powerful: love doesn’t always follow logic.
