A small town in Italy is mourning the loss of 15-year-old Matilda Ferrari, a promising figure skater who was killed Monday morning in a tragic accident.
The incident happened in Val Rendena, Trentino, as Ferrari was walking to school. She was crossing State Road 239 near her home and heading toward a bus stop when she was struck in the crosswalk by a cement mixer owned by Cunaccia Construction. Authorities are still investigating the crash. Early reports indicate the driver may have had a green light at the time of the collision.
