Nathaniel ‘Nate’ Pelletier, a beloved actor and comedian, passed away suddenly at the age of 53 on April 11, while living alone in Langley, British Columbia. “Although Pelletier’s death was described as sudden and unexpected, the absence of a disclosed cause has sparked quiet speculation among fans and even some members of the production community.” Friends noted he had been in excellent health and good spirits days before his passing, making his death even more mysterious.
Pelletier was widely recognized for his generosity and work ethic. “He had a reputation for offering assistance even before it was requested of him. He was an outgoing and friendly individual, always greeting others with a warm smile and a firm handshake.” He is survived by his mother Yvonne Langevin, step-siblings Gordon, Brian, and Teri, godmother Lee DeGoede, nephew Andrei, brothers Jeramie and Jason, daughter Myhrsades Jones, and father Perry Phillips.
He gained fame through the series When Calls the Heart, which premiered in 2014. Nate worked both in front of the camera, often portraying a cab driver, and behind the scenes in the transport department. He called the cast and crew his “second greatest love” and cherished his time with them.
Colleagues paid heartfelt tributes. Martin Cummins wrote, “I just got back from riding the bike Gord and Nate built for me… reminiscing about him. I always viewed Gord as a father figure, and Nate and I were like his sons… Without Nathaniel Pelletier, the valley would not be the same. He was genuinely a benevolent person.” Production manager Mike Magnusson called him a “unicorn” and said, “Nate really saw people… His spirit is irreplaceable. We adored you, Nate—you were unique. You’ll be sorely missed, my pal.”
Nate Pelletier’s sudden loss leaves a deep void. He is remembered not only for his talent but also for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication. His presence brightened both screens and workspaces, and his legacy of generosity, friendship, and joy will endure in the memories of loved ones, colleagues, and fans alike.
