Beloved Actor Passes Away Unexpectedly at 53

Nathaniel “Nate” Pelletier, a longtime member of the production team for Hallmark’s hit series *When Calls the Heart*, has died suddenly at the age of 53. He passed away on April 11 at his home in Langley, British Columbia, according to his obituary.

Although Pelletier appeared on screen in several episodes as a taxi driver, he was best known for his behind-the-scenes work in the show’s transportation department. He was responsible for maintaining and driving the production’s vintage vehicles, playing a key role in bringing the series’ period setting to life.

His death deeply affected cast and crew members, many of whom worked closely with him for years. Actor Martin Cummins, who plays Henry Gowen, shared a heartfelt tribute honoring Pelletier’s impact and friendship.

“I just came back from a ride on the bike Gord and Nate put together for the girls and I’m taking shade in Mexico under the awning Nate helped me figure out in the woods near the old cabin,” Cummins wrote, reflecting on shared memories and moments spent together on set.

He continued, “I have spent more hours at work sitting in the blue room, in silence or in conversation with Gord and Nate than I have standing on tape with the camera rolling,” highlighting how important Pelletier was to his daily life during filming.

Cummins closed his message with a touching farewell: “Life is constantly changing. Things are never the same. The Valley will not be the same without Nathaniel Pelletier. He was a gentle soul and it was my honor to call him friend.”

Pelletier’s passing leaves a deep void in the *When Calls the Heart* family, where he was valued not just for his work, but for his kindness, dedication, and quiet presence behind the scenes.
