Savannah Guthrie speaks out after chilling images show masked armed suspect in missing mom’s kidnapping

Savannah Guthrie has spoken publicly after the FBI released disturbing images connected to the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. The photos show “a masked person wearing gloves, a mask, and a backpack” outside Nancy Guthrie’s Arizona home, “appearing to tamper with the doorbell,” which investigators say is a key focus of the case.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the images were recovered after extensive efforts to retrieve lost data. He explained: “The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.” He added that law enforcement uncovered “previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.” Patel urged anyone with information to contact authorities.

The case has drawn intense public attention for 10 days, involving searches near the home, a ransom note with two deadlines, and scrutiny of people close to the family. Patel also claimed the suspect was armed. Despite the developments, “no arrests have been made,” and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed there will be no further press conferences “until there is something to report.”

Sharing the images on Instagram, Savannah Guthrie expressed hope that her mother is still alive, writing: “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.” She has also previously appealed to the public, saying: “We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help.”

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing after she failed to arrive at a friend’s home for church on the morning of February 1. The alleged ransom note demanded “$6,000,000 in Bitcoin” but did not explain what would happen if deadlines passed. Officials later confirmed they are “not aware of any continued communication” and have not identified a suspect or person of interest.
