Donald Trump harshly criticized Bad Bunny’s halftime show at Super Bowl LX, calling it “one of the worst, EVER!” and “an affront to the Greatness of America.” He said the performance “doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence,” and described it as “disgusting.”

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, delivered a Spanish-language performance that featured him moving through a field of sugarcane while performing his songs. The fast-paced Latin trap style impressed many fans inside the stadium but left others frustrated because they “couldn’t understand a word.”

In a lengthy statement, Trump complained: “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching.” He added that the show was a “slap in the face to our Country,” predicted it would receive praise from the “Fake News Media,” and even used the moment to attack the NFL, saying it should “immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule.”

Trump did not attend the Super Bowl, having previously said it was “too far,” and had already made his dislike of a Spanish-language halftime show clear. Speaking to the New York Post before the game, he said of the artists involved: “I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.” He also criticized politically outspoken acts such as Green Day.

The symbolism in Bad Bunny’s performance appeared to further anger the former president. As the show ended, a billboard read, “the only thing more powerful than hate is love,” followed by a final image of the artist holding a football labeled, “Together we are America.”
