California Man Taken In by the FBI in Connection with Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance — Latest Updates

As the search for Nancy Guthrie continues, authorities confirmed that a recent federal arrest is not directly connected to her disappearance, despite rising public speculation. Federal officials said a California man was taken into custody for sending threatening messages to the Guthrie family but stressed he is not believed to be involved in Nancy’s disappearance.

According to the Department of Justice, the suspect allegedly sent alarming communications across state lines during the height of concern. Officials emphasized the texts were “not connected to any verified ransom demand,” and that a criminal complaint “does not imply guilt.” The man, identified as Derrick Callella, reportedly admitted sending the messages after following media coverage.

Meanwhile, investigators in Arizona clarified why no doorbell footage exists from the early hours of Nancy’s disappearance. Sheriff Chris Nanos said the camera disconnected around 1:47 a.m., and although motion detection triggered later, no video was saved due to a lack of cloud storage. Authorities urged the public to separate confirmed facts from speculation.

Savannah Guthrie and her siblings shared an emotional video message, thanking supporters and asking for help. “We feel the prayers,” Savannah said. She also stressed her mother’s fragile health and dependence on medication. In the caption, the family made a simple plea: “Bring her home.”

Amid reports of alleged ransom demands, Savannah warned about misinformation, saying, “We live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her.” Law enforcement confirmed they are reviewing all digital evidence carefully.

Authorities also denied reports suggesting any family member is a suspect. “We have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case,” officials stated. The investigation remains active as detectives analyze forensic results, digital records, and incoming tips, while the family holds onto hope for Nancy’s safe return.
