Emily brings her newborn daughter Nora home after thirteen difficult days in the NICU, expecting life to finally become calmer. Instead, her grandfather Walter reveals a secret about Nora’s father, Caleb. He explains that Emily’s mother, Sarah, once worked for Caleb’s family and that Caleb’s father, William, had tried to control Sarah after his wife died. When Sarah refused him, William used his influence to make her life difficult. Walter took Emily away and promised to protect her from the family.
