The FBI has released an updated description of a person of interest in the Nancy Guthrie investigation

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Phoenix office has released a refined description of a man seen in doorbell camera footage tied to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie and increased the reward for information to $100,000. The man is described as about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with an average build, carrying a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack. Officials said the updated description is meant “to focus public tips and reduce the high volume of unverified information received.”

Since early February, investigators have been overwhelmed with responses. The FBI has logged more than 13,000 tips, while the Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported nearly 18,000 calls. Authorities noted that many submissions — including messages from psychics and clairvoyants — have made it harder to sort through useful leads. Nearly two weeks after 84-year-old Guthrie was reported missing on Feb. 1, officials say they are reviewing every credible detail carefully.

Law enforcement is urging residents within a two-mile radius of Guthrie’s home to share any doorbell or surveillance footage from key dates in January, especially during late evening hours. An unconfirmed report involving a white van is being examined. Investigators have also collected possible physical evidence, including a glove found about a mile and a half from her home. It is undergoing forensic testing for fingerprints, DNA, hair, and fibers.

Authorities stressed that bringing Guthrie home safely remains the top priority. They hope the higher reward and clearer suspect description will generate reliable, actionable information while keeping the investigation focused and fair.
