Tommaso Cioni Questioned in Ongoing Nancy Guthrie Investigation

The disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has taken a troubling turn as investigators delve deeper into the events of the night she vanished from her Tucson home. Authorities revealed that her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, willingly participated in an extended interview with law enforcement.

Although he has not been arrested and faces no charges, officials clarified that the interview was part of efforts to establish a clear timeline of the evening of January 31, 2026. Nancy was last seen after dinner with her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and Cioni. He reportedly drove her home around 9:45 p.m. and watched her enter the house safely.

The following morning, concern mounted when Nancy missed church and didn’t respond to phone calls. Deputies responding to her residence found signs of a possible struggle near the entrance, raising alarm about her whereabouts.

A disconnected security camera and traces of blood on the porch, later confirmed to be Nancy’s, led investigators to treat the case as a suspected abduction. The case grew even more urgent with the discovery of a sudden disruption in communication from Nancy’s pacemaker shortly after 2:00 a.m. on February 1. In light of this, the FBI has joined local authorities in assisting with forensic analysis, while officials emphasized that interviewing family members is a standard procedure and does not suggest guilt.

Complicating matters further, fraudulent ransom messages surfaced, prompting the arrest of an unrelated suspect accused of exploiting the situation for personal gain. This added a layer of complexity to an already tense investigation, as authorities tried to separate genuine leads from distractions. Search efforts intensified, with K-9 teams, drones, and aerial scans being deployed across the Catalina Foothills.

Authorities also offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to Nancy’s whereabouts, urging the public to come forward with any relevant details. The FBI’s involvement has elevated the case’s urgency, as officials continue to piece together a timeline of events surrounding Nancy’s disappearance. Despite the growing complications, the investigation remains active, with authorities hopeful that new information will come to light.

As the investigation continues, Nancy’s family remains desperate for answers, and the community holds its breath. Investigators remain focused on finding concrete evidence, urging anyone who might have seen something unusual in the area on the night of her disappearance to come forward. With the case still unresolved, the search for Nancy remains a top priority for both local and federal authorities.
