Which one looks most like you: A, B, C or D?

Sleeping well is about more than the number of hours you spend in bed. Your sleeping position can affect your spine, breathing, digestion, and how comfortable you feel when you wake up. During the night, your body repairs itself, muscles relax, and the brain processes information from the day. If your neck or back remains in an awkward position for hours, you may wake up feeling stiff, sore, or tired.

For many people, sleeping on the side is one of the healthiest choices. It can help keep the airways open, reduce snoring, and support better spinal alignment. Side sleeping may also be especially helpful for people who experience acid reflux or digestive discomfort. Sleeping on the left side is often preferred for these concerns, although comfort and individual needs should also be considered.

The pillow you use can make a major difference when sleeping on your side. A supportive pillow should keep your neck aligned with the rest of your spine rather than allowing your head to tilt downward or upward. Proper support can reduce unnecessary pressure on the neck and shoulders and make side sleeping more comfortable throughout the night.

Sleeping on your back is another good option because it distributes your body weight more evenly and helps keep the spine in a neutral position. Placing a pillow under your knees can provide additional support for the lower back. However, back sleeping may increase snoring or breathing difficulties for some people, so it is not ideal for everyone.

Stomach sleeping is generally considered the least supportive position because it can twist the neck and place extra pressure on the lower back. Ultimately, there is no single position that works perfectly for everyone. The best choice is the one that keeps your body supported, allows you to breathe comfortably, and helps you wake up feeling rested rather than sore.
